The first 8000 hour screw compressor lubricant permitted in food plants were there is a possibility of incidental or indirect food contact was registered with NSF as H-1. The product improved over our 6000 hour product (already a 50% improvement in operating life over competitor products), which was a result of advanced additive technology. The new 8000 hour product achieved over 12,000 hours in some field test studies conducted over the previous two years. Different formulas were developed for synthetic hydrocarbon (PAO) as the primary base fluid and group V esters as additives and co-base fluids. The development also included PAO/POE and PAO/AN which are also available from BVAdvanced . The PAO/POE versions became the first commercially registered food grade screw compressor oil which may provide 12,000 or longer operating hours in typical installations. Testing was conducted over the previous three years, including full scale tests for performance in screw, vane and reciprocating compressors – customer field tests were completed to prove reliability before releasing the product to our customers. PAO/AN versions have also provided exceptional performance. Development continues on PAG/POE formulas. Full POE formulas are already available.
